Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago

Justin Vernon cements beauty in pain on this incredible masterpiece. Born from isolation, this record is incredibly intimate, reaching deep into his psyche, confronting knotty and complex emotions. Not quite up to the bar that their first project set but is consistent, has some good moments on it and delivers some charming math rock riffs.

These guys are awesome, tons of potential, have such a raw and unique sound. For a mostly a neo-soul and R&B album they blend in a jazz aesthetic that goes together better than peanut butter and jelly. Vocals are great, technically ability is great, mixing is great, composition is great. So happy I got to see these guys live they are on par or better than artists with magnitudes more influence.

I really love this underrated project, very quirky and has tons of variety. It applies their incredible youthful sound to a new style, texture and arrangement. This album does't revolutionize electro-pop but its just so fun I can't see anyone with a open mind not getting something out of it.
