Honestly, after coming back to this, its even better than the first time. However, outside of the title track, i feel like it doesn't build to anything, but it doesn't really need to so i guess that's that
defo preferred some of the more downtempo and chuggy sections, but this album is fresh, like really fresh, it takes a lot of older ideas from bands like TDTE and to an extent, the dillinger escape plan, meaning that every single track feels a bit different from the last and from every other band of the last 16 years
fav track - Parting gift
Honestly pretty cool, it has enough cohesion and good ideas to where the time of the album is justified, but all the ideas still contributing to another. Cool allegory of gay horses. From 9 minutes to about 22 (wasnt looking at the time stamps) is probably my favorite bit, but its all pretty good. Cool bass parts too.
this shit would probably fuck live, but as an album, it just sounds like the worse parts of all the BDM bands in the scene and really is just a FRP/ Dehumanized worship album
Shout out my goat @Maul15 for putting this album back onto me. I had always listened to change, but after actually doing a full listen, this album made me realize how cool a total of 5 chords can sound for 48 minutes
Holy shit look at me go rating a bunch of albums 100's wowow wowie. No but in all seriousness this is a no skip album, maybe with the exception of the end of moonchild, like its cool but shut up and lemme listen to The Court of the Crimson King. Also robert fripp my naked goat 🤤🤤
Look, there isn't another album that has made me think about how much I don't enjoy my own presence more than this one. I don't have a ton of words for this, but its good, and I'll never forget it.
Honestly such a great experience. This is the type of album you can put on as background noise and ponder upon it, or listen to it full force while taking notes. Really innovative guitar work and great mood.
Some of the coolest production, feels extremely clean and empty at the same time. Tracks like Sweet Leaf and Into the Void really stand out with this. The reverbless sound and the tight, warm guitar tone makes you feel like you're floating. Still some of the heaviest songs even 55 years later.
I think the important thing with listening to noise is understanding either the emotion put behind the song, or the emotion the writer wants you to feel when listening to the piece. Now this may seem like an idiotic statement to some, but that might just be the whole point. Noise, at its core, is kinda primal and raw, and a bit idiotic. It is a genre made to be the most simple, yet have so much depth that its often looked over. Now why am I writing this? Good question, I truly don't know, ... read more
This is an unbelievably simple and aggressive album. From time to time the lyrics do get a bit lost, but that might just be part of the anger. The riffs seem arguably punk/sludge adjacent which is impressive for this time, and there's so much passion and rage in the vocals that they stand out from the instrumentals significantly.
I don't think, as a man, I will ever understand the emotion behind this album, but every time I listen to it, I think i feel it a little more
This is one of those albums that you enjoy listening to, and then once you're done, you feel bad that you can't inject it into your bloodstream and live off a siphon that holds you together and tears you apart simultaneously. Anyway, good album.
