Solange - When I Get Home
80

This is better than A Seat at the Table.

Production-wise this is already more diverse compared to her previous album while maintaining the overall sleazy vibe. To be honest, i don't know how to really describe this album, but I really liked it and definitely preferred this over A seat at the table.

The prefect role model for all women, for black culture, and for the craft in her music.

Best song: Almeda
Worst song: My skin my logo (a bit slow for my liking)

The Weeknd - Dawn FM

The second album to the trilogy and is an incredible sequel to the first album After Hours.

However, the highs on this just aren’t as hard hitting as his other projects. It’s still good dont get me wrong, but obviously not as impactful or sound as others of his other albums. Very electronic/disco heavy on the forefront which could explain why i just dont see his high that high. Overall very solid album, can’t go wrong with it. Production is still good while lyrics-wise sees ... read more

The Weeknd - After Hours

The beginning of what is probably one of the best trilogy of albums of our generation. Riding the highs of Starboy and Beauty In The Madness, The weeknd has truly ascended into a global phenomenon.

Listening to Hurry Up Tomorrow made me intrigued with what this whole trilogy is about, i had to look everywhere basically just to get an idea of what this whole trilogy is about. Probably will rereview hurry up tomorrow given that now i feel slightly different about it.

Nonetheless the ... read more

JPEGMAFIA & Danny Brown - SCARING THE HOES
80

How does one explain to their loved ones that one of their favorite album is called Scaring the Hoes, and it has a song called Fentanyl Tester.

Relistening this should give me better understanding of Peggy as an artist. Unfortunately, this shit scares the hoes and me too. I remember when this first came out, there was only one song that i would stray to, Kingdom Hearts Key. Something about that feels like a song where I'm god or something. Then when i tell myself to get ahold and listen ... read more

JPEGMAFIA - I LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR YOU: DIRECTOR'S CUT

This is a bias review. I am JPEGMAFIA sexual. Thanks for the samples and the random valorant sound effects. Peggy has suddenly turned from an artist i stray away from to an artist that is constantly in my rotation. Thank you JPEGMAFIA i say in unison

Edit: 90> 95 it just keeps getting better

J. Cole - The Off-Season
85

My first full J.Cole project.

At first listen, this was what really set the tone and impression for Cole. Great flows and production, but sometimes overly humble. I mean it's good to be humble and stay grounded and know your place, but having a bit of confidence to drop more cutthroat bars would be more interesting rather than just forever delving into personal struggles. Overall, this album is good as it maintains good flows and a good sense of like Cole having fun? At least on 95 ... read more

Clairo's Charm but Drake's intention is to make you fall asleep.

Idk, i told myself heading into this album to have an open mind and not judge it based off the sheer beef between him and Kendrick. However, 4 songs in, i ended up talking to myself, yawned, and felt less sexually aroused than i was before the start of this album. This album represents the other thousands of generic R&B albums out there, as if their main motive is to make you sleep. Heck, this things is not even ... read more

Peggy's creativity is dizzying and unique.

I used to look at this guy and ask myself, who in the right mind will listen to JPEGMAFIA. It's not appealing, it's loud and abrasive and sometimes even annoying. However, the more you listen to it, you see the genius behind it. Yes, i do agree sometimes he just throws a bunch of sounds into it and just tells himself, yes this is good but he's talent and genius is there. The ability to combine something so chaotic and cohesive is a ... read more

Metro Boomin Heroes and Villains Premium Edition

Smooth and elegant transitions but something about it just isn't like something crazy? Idk maybe it's because we are used to his sound and his vocals that we just take it for granted. Overall it's very cohesive and over the course of 1 hour and 24 minutes, it feels like he doesn't lose you. Production is not something to be overlooked and the smooth vocals and vibes through this is just great. Overall very good album, first ... read more

Future - WE STILL DON'T TRUST YOU
50

First of all, One hour and twenty eight minutes for a whole fucking sequel to an album is just insane. Just speaks volumes on how this thing is gonna be one of the most boring things to listen this year.

The whole persona of the we don't trust you moniker is to be mysterious, and to eliminate the opps as all costs, something like a hitmen or secret service. This feel like that one kid in school whose whole persona is based off an artist/album. He or she doesnt like the aesthetic or the ... read more

J. Cole - 4 Your Eyez Only

Produced, written and by Jermaine Lamarr Cole. Tell me what this guy can't do.

This album gets as personal as Cole is. This album is littered with songs that will always be remembered and songs that get very personal and dark. The production on this is what you would expect from Cole, great but not fantastic but his pen writing is on another level on songs such as Change. 10 tracks, 44 minutes, concise and heavy hitting, some of Cole's finest work.

Best song: Change
Worst song: ... read more

Mac Miller - Balloonerism

Very dark and disturbing to listen. The production and the lyrics are just as dark as the previous. Basically circles is him trying to find himself through everything, while this serves as him coming to terms that his life is just ended and he's made a lot of bad mistakes. To think that this was recorded somewhere near his Faces album drop just really adds more lore to this album. Songs like 5 Dollar Pony Rides add a bit of spin to the album with a more uplifting beat but still a rather ... read more

something about this just feels so raw and decadent at the same time. It feels as though someone just crafted this in their basement with garage-band and went like: “this is gonna be timeless”.

Production really carried this album as of all of his other albums but this felt as if he had something to prove and was trying all sorts of way. This old dog felt more personal and had a proper story to tell, while this feels like rather experimental with the mixing. It’s something I ... read more

Joey Bada$$ - 1999

I don't care what people say, Survival tactics has got to be one of the best duo song of all time. The flow the cadence the lyrics, the beat everything just slides into place too well.

To think 1999 was made by a 16 year old and with this being his debut project it's just crazy to see the maturity of it. Bars, flows, cadence all are immaculate and the boom bap beats are to die for. Not only that very interesting sampling on both survival tactics and waves with the latter also sharing ... read more

Freddie Gibbs & The Alchemist - Alfredo

Fusion food at it’s finest.
The base of the dish (The pasta) is the production on this album. Not specifically crazy or anything, but it’s jazz at it’s finest. Smooth and elegant. The topping (the sauce) is the lyrics. Hard hitting cutthroat and relentless verses that keeps the audience on it’s toes and wanting more. This album is consistently good and doesn’t really sound monotone as the flows and cadence constantly switch with the jazzy instrumentals. It’s ... read more

This review is only the songs added to the deluxe. Is it just me or SZA is slowly losing her touch on these albums. Don't get me wrong, it's still solid but from SZA whose features and earlier work never fail to exceed expectations. This has been rather underwhelming especially as it's a deluxe. Yes it matches the theme for SOS but i don't know, i felt like this could be a standalone album. Lyrics don't standout, production has been just solid. Overall, it's still ... read more

Denzel Curry & Kenny Beats - UNLOCKED

Was looking for a new wallpaper and slip across this project. The artwork completely matches the lyrics and flows of this entire EP. Powerful yet smooth hard hitting flows. Double entendres that feel too powerful for an Asian boy to say (I'm afraid of civil right being revoked). Overall it's just a fun EP with shit ton of energy without sacrificing what rap and hip-hop is all about.

I'm sorry Claire Cottrill. I'm sorry for calling you an industry plant. Even if you were an industry plant, I now firmly believe as long as you are doing 10x of a better job than Lance Stroll, I should be grateful that you are given this chance. I'm sorry for shitting on my friends for listening to you. I should have not doubted your excellence. Nonetheless, the review.
