death's dynamic shroud - You Like Music

the best thing i heard this week!!
absolutely incredible and underrated deconstructed club project. this band is truly insane.

⭐ no worries if not
🔻 cut it up

Spaze - BOOMBOX VOL. 1
85

welcome back gd music goat.
spaze has taken a more experimental approach on this ep, and i really like this decision; it sounds very fresh and much more catchy.

⭐ phoenix
🔻 intro

cowboyy - Drawbridge Castle
90

a crazy improvement compared to their debut ep, they are trying to develop their own sound, much more chaotic and interesting than i heard in their previous work, amazing.

False Noise - Shiver
100

iconic neurofunk song, literally the peak of this genre.

phonon - Polyriddim
100

im TIRED of pretending that this isn't the best song that ever existed.

JOHNNASCUS - Sitting At The End Of The World
90

quadeca but glitch death grips industrial rage
this is my opinion.

⭐ i don't really hope it lasts long
🔻 vr horrors

So!YoON! - So!YoON!
75

damn this is crazy.

this album is a truly beautiful and fascinating mix of genres such as art pop, soul, indietronica, psychedelia, and indie/post/art rock, especially in the second half. really good and incredibly underrated.
idk why the last track is so low rated tho.

⭐ athena
🔻 zz'city (byul.org remix)

woidzero - cascadis

EsDeeKid - Rebel
60

its a good mixtape, not one i would listen to on repeat, but enjoyable nonetheless.
some tracks seem empty or too repetitive, but some are really good, such as 'tartan' and 'rottweiler'.

⭐ tartan
🔻 5am

LAUSSE THE CAT - The Mocking Stars
90

i really love fairy tale-style albums, and Lausse is probably my best discovery of the year in this genre. this guy mixes fantasy lo-fi beats with really interesting and enjoyable rap and poetry. it's just amazing, definitely one of my top 3 hip-hop aoty

⭐ peonies for breakfast
🔻 blue bossa

Ugly - Gallowine
100

this is heavenly, yea, their best song for me since the wheel.

DEADLETTER - To The Brim
85

very strong maruja vibes, but i mean, that's not even a bad thing. glad they're back.

madk1d - sexyswag
40

один и тотже трек 9 раз просто ЗАКРОЙСЯ и ЗАТКНИСЬ. нихуя не СЕКСИ и не СВАГ.

🔻 танцор

Twine - Deer In The Headlights
75

twine moves towards art rock in this ep, and i also hear an improvement in songwriting
this is their best work to date. can't wait to hear the new album

⭐ faith of crisis
🔻 out the same way

Danny Brown - Stardust
82

generational.
danny brown and his team have created something unreal magic here. 50 minutes flew by like 30, and i NEED more of this.

⭐ 1999 / starburst
🔻 right from wrong

Gorillaz - The God of Lying

"@tistan comparing this to slayyyter doesn't automatically prove a lack of ambition either. genres are built on shared aesthetics. you could apply the exact same logic to synthpop, shoegaze, rage, jersey club, literally anything. similarity alone is not proof of creative bankruptcy. also, burnout doesn't automatically mean the music is objectively getting worse. sometimes it just means you’ve consumed too much of the same style in a short period of time. that’s a listener-side issue as much as an artist's-side one. know the difference"

"@tistan this isn't really criticism, it’s more of an emotional rant. you keep saying "everything sounds the same" "0 ambition" "no evolution" but you never actually explain what you mean by that. which albums are copying each other? what specific trends or production choices are becoming repetitive? what would "evolution" even look like to you? also reducing an entire scene to "slopfest" just bc most releases didn’t personally connect with you says more about your current burnout with the genre than it does about the actual state of the music."

"comparing this to Discovery sets a very specific standard that not every conceptual electronic project is trying to meet, i don't fully agree that music has to clearly 'tell the story' without context for the concept to work. in many genres, especially electronic music, the narrative is often meant to be abstract or supported by external material. most of the arguments feel more like personal preference presented as universal rules for me"
