There are like 3 other people in all of human history that can do what she did for this performance. I am happy I am alive at the same time as the Queen.
The direct predecessor to weezers vibes. Incredible album. Something is so cool about it, like the nerdy kid who finally gets up at prom on the guitar and mic and runs away with it.
God almighty help me if I have a few drinks in me and this starts playing
To me this is a direct predecessor to albums like The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, it is pure swag and fun, but lyrically potent and overall the skill level is on par with male contemporaries of the time. One of the great hip hop albums of the 90s.
This might be the most overrated album on this site imo. This album is really not great. It sounds like shitty Eastern European 90s techno over acid beats. And Madonna’s shitty vocals do nothing to help here.
When this album is on, it is really on. Riffs are heavy, songs are written well. New born is one of my favorite songs period. Just an overall fun album with loose post-apocalyptic vibes.
Incredible live album, the best songs are the lesser known songs, Slippery People just changed my life. The backing vocals were an awesome additional touch.
Honestly way more boring than I thought it was going to be. Songs are super basic, very little flair or instrumentation at all really, super stripped back but for dance oriented music not my fav. Fun still when it hits.
Maybe the closest thing we will ever have to another Stevie Wonder. Pure funk, pure vibes. This is 100% my personal bias showing because funk is one of my favs but this album scratches an itch for me in a way very few other albums can do. Similar wavelength to Hiatus Kaiyote.
Reminds me a lot of The Shins. Fun songwriting, but the songs are very awkward and don't fully land most of the time for me. Not a bad listen by any means, but not super impressive either.
One of the more lyrically creative albums I’ve ever heard. He pulls ideas from places that many wouldn’t be able to even fathom, and he really sticks the landing every time. The instrumentals are also pretty decent but not the highlight, but overall a very good album.
Idk man maybe it’s a complete nostalgia rating and has heavy personal bias, but this thing is amazing. The metro boomin beats were at his peak, 11 straight hits, and Drake was at his most energetic, creative, and focused period of his career. I will throw this on every now and then expecting it to not hit quite the same, and I am always blown away by the staying power of one of the best trap project ever in my opinion.
Perhaps the most effortlessly cool album ever recorded. Just so chill, confident, but not cocky, they just know that they got that shit fr. Incredible listen.
Honestly not that bad at all, the instrumentation is pretty good overall, and though it’s a bit of an acquired taste I think the vocals aren’t so left field that I can’t get past them at all. I don’t think I’ll revisit but the stream of consciousness lyrics and guitar work is enough to earn an ok rating.
What a freak she is in a good way. Accents, vocal stims, didgeridoo, chanting, just shit all over the place on this album. I think it lacks a bit in terms of cohesion and vision, but you cannot fault her creativity and ability to push boundaries. Nobody quite like her.
