Their new arsenal of material is shockingly good. As usual, the songs do a wonderful job of combining gooey sentimentality with violent frustration, and Ryan Olcott's trademark awkwardness and self- loathing delivers his message perfectly.

Hey AOTY,

I hope you are well, for those who noticed that I was not publishing reviews anymore and that I was more discreet, I would like to tell you that indeed I don't have too much time nor motivation to write right now, but I hope it will come back, because I miss AOTY, in any case, don't worry, I'm fine !

The resulting songscapes are much more forceful and confrontational than your typical "sadboy/girl with a guitar and a reverb pedal mumbling vague lyrics" type stuff, both in its sound and lyricism. Flecks of washy keyboards and various electronic fuckery sit sprinkled atop these already very ... read more
