First half was Opium, second half was tedium.
While I have no doubt that Carti is an innovator for trap and rage music, his latest output was honestly a total slog to get through, as there were a number of songs, especially on the backend, lacking clear direction and mind-numbingly catchy melodies which gave "Die Lit" and even "Whole Lotta Red" some actual flare. Yes, there were flashes of his artistry at its best here, and a few of the beats went exceptionally hard, but ... read more
In honor of Olivia Rodrigo's 22nd birthday today, I thought it was more than appropriate to finally open the vault and show y'all this Instagram caption that I put together after attending the GUTS World Tour last year, my first time seeing her live. For non-hardcore Olivia fans, the verbiage used throughout this review might sound a bit strange to you guys, so keep that in mind if you choose to read. Now, without further ado, here it is:

Regardless of your identity, background, or where you came from, the pursuit of being unapologetically yourself is a goal that people from all walks of life can happily embrace—and Chappell Roan gives everybody a reason to keep on dancing with this quintessential anthem for freedom. Sans exaggeration, every individual aspect of this record is absolutely beautiful, from its incredibly resonant message and chorus to its phenomenal vocals, and perhaps most notably, the guitar solos; ... read more
As one of the most critically acclaimed artists of our generation, Kendrick Lamar has absolutely nothing left to prove at this point in his career. Lo and behold, though, he adds yet another gem to his already legendary catalog, with GNX serving as a grand celebration of his fans and the West Coast that raised him.
First things first, if you're somebody that appreciates the charismatic side of Kendrick's personality, this was tailor-made just for you. A few months removed from the ... read more
We don't wanna hear you say hola no moreeeeeeeeee!!!
Brat and it's completely different but also still as good as the original brat because despite being a remix album it ultimately stands out as a transformative project with its own unique identity incorporating even more experimental ideas and sounds along with excellently curated features while also staying true to the brat aesthetic we know and love
An absolute masterclass in production from Matt and Mica. Every aspect of this project was hand-crafted to literal perfection: The eccentric arrangements, otherworldly melodies, vocal performances, you name it. While the futuristic soundscape is off-the-wall crazy and even bewildering at points, the songs are still quite easy to latch onto, which is a huge plus. No musical idea comes off as too grandiose or forced; each one serves a purpose and contributes greatly to the sensation of embarking ... read more
Hey, y'all! I don't post content on this site very often, but with the one-year anniversary of your favorite artist's favorite artist's debut album upon us, I felt compelled to do a quick track-by-track review of a project that has meant a great deal to me personally, "The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess". Special shoutout to my friend, @Frances311, for inspiring me to write this! Go give her a follow!

The chorus could use more oomph, but, nonetheless, this song is undoubtedly a vibe. I'm feeling the 90s-inspired house influence that she's bringing! She's in her Madonna element and we love to see it! Definitely looking forward to what AG7 has in store for us. Ari season is in full swing!
Death, taxes, Dula Peep serving!
I don't know how Kevin Parker and Danny L Harle stumbled into this woman, but I'm not complaining whatsoever. Those 3 are a match made in musical heaven. I love that they didn't outright abandon the throwback sound prevalent in "Future Nostalgia" and added a psychadelic twist into the mix, throwing in these larger-than-life synths and a thumping bassline on top of impressive vocal work from Dua. It's hard not to fall into the rhythm of the ... read more
It ain't hard to tell that Nas is a living legend through and through. Happy 50th birthday to one of the GOATS of rap! Incredible closer to "Illmatic" by the way. The bass, saxophones, and, of course, his timeless lyricism never fail to amaze me.
Upon the release of Olivia Rodrigo's debut project, "SOUR", critics wondered if her newfound success was just a fluke, a byproduct of her label propping her up, if this Disney girl had enough momentum to produce another chart-topping album etc. but O-Rod did what any savvy artist would do by working overtime in the studio and basically putting those erroneous theories to bed.
While "GUTS" doesn't offer as many highlights per se compared to her debut, Olivia's overall ... read more
To think there's a Metro collab project AND a sequel to "The Forever Story" on the way is unfathomable, but it's really happening. God bless Mr. and Mrs. Route for giving us JID.
Ladies and gentlemen, DJ "Dumpster Juice" Khaled.
Lil Yachty, the same man responsible for the critically panned "Lil Boat" series and the inept "Teenage Emotions" album, dropping what's arguably one of the best, most intriguing projects of the entire year was nowhere to be seen on my 2023 bingo card. I'm legitimately in a state of ineffable amazement after my first listen. The production is innovative and top tier quality, the vocals have such a transcendental flare to them which do the instrumentals justice, and the ... read more
Should've replaced the chorus with, "BLOOOOOODSUCKER, MARRRRRRK ZUCKER!"
Despite bearing a similar structure to "drivers license", Olivia displays enough personality and vehemence to make the song uniquely hers. People say her performance is excessively melodramatic, but I don't think it was overdone. Olivia always vociferates her lyrics with conviction it especially works well here on "vampire". "GUTS" is shaping up to be a promising sophomore album for ... read more
Few misses here and there, but the highs far outweigh the lows. Travis' calling card is immersing us in his world of ethereal, spacey aesthetics and while that was no different in this album, he took a more ambitious, yet focused approach with those themes and created a unique sonical environment that captivated my attention throughout. There's a chock full of twists, turns, and bizarre aspects with very little predictability. Off the first listen, you never truly know what ideas this album has ... read more
