How do you have an album where every song is a duet with a guest and none of the features miss?
I love Onry's way with words, flow, and the way his voice works perfectly with all of these beats. I listened to a song about a child dying of cancer but still almost laughed when the singer said "6 or 7 years." If I get drafted and killed, I can't even deny that I deserve it.
This is some lyrical emo. Vocal melody is a powerful tool, so the singer's adjacency to spoken-word with a high emphasis on lyrics is a bold choice. This is a mixed showcase of pre-Backwoodz Gabe, and it would’ve been nice to know that this is actually a compilation and not a cohesive project. There are a couple songs early on where it’s clear he hasn’t quite found his identity since he’s rapping uncharacteristically like a Pharcyde member.
