I don't know what genre this even counts as anymore but I love it. Instant Crush - LYTD - Touch - Get Lucky gotta be one of the best 4 song runs of all time
Iver does a great job of creating the atmosphere he wants to create; one of the best, at that. I'm not much for purely atmospheric music so I found this album a bit repetitive; enjoyed it, but it's not something I'd come back to. I see the vision though, and For Emma is undeniably a fantastic track
This was my first J. Cole album and to be honest I liked it a lot more than I expected to. Definitely a great send off album and it's got a lot to say; it has its highs and mediums (no lows imo) but overall I was shocked by how constantly interested I was despite the album being so long. SAFETY and 39 intro are my favorites
Very solid. Not quite on the same level as In The Court, but aside from Providence and Starless (I'm afraid I still do not get the hype) there's a lot of cool musical movement going on throughout this album
Has a very cool sound but aside from Feel Good, Inc., none of the songs were particularly memorable for me so idk if i'd come back to it
The first time I listened to The Cinema Show I thought it was the worst song on the album, didn't get the hype at all. Probably 30+ album relistens later it's now possibly my favorite song of all time
A very solid album that drags a bit in points, but usually the next great song (Moon Cave, Manifesto, Damascus) was there to save things before too long. Has a very unique sound which I appreciate. Left me wanting a bit more though... maybe it's the length?
A well made album with quality music and emotion put into it, but it just didn't resonate with me personally. Started off strong but by the end I was having trouble picking out one song from another. Nice to listen to, not something I'd go back to though, but I'm sure it's purely a personal thing
Possibly the closest thing I've seen to perfection in album form when considering what I look for in music. Not a single song that even comes close to a skip on this album. Helplessness blues is easily in my top 3 songs of all time
Second half of the album kind of trails off but there's a lot of cool stuff going on in the first half
