The I-need-love pop tunes are not getting any better, even with Timbaland and Justin Timberlake in the stripper ditty “AYO Technology.”
50’s lost any trace of artistic ambition, any interest in originality. In the end, Curtis is nothing more or less than a competent corporate product.
Really, it is just a very average album from an artist we know is capable of more but rarely interested in giving 100%. 50 Cent may be a superstar, but Curtis is pedestrian.
50's new album is a blatant rehash-- a bottom-line sequel that insults the same audience it mindlessly panders to.
What's missing where these lame boasts exist in Curtis is the vulnerability of moments on The Massacre or any of the rich narrative that graced his first album, not to mention any of the goofy, sing-along catchiness that previously made his singles chart events. Musically 50's collaborators don't feel like they've brought anything near their best to the table.
Curtis, shiny production and all, is reclusive and even kind of artless.
Curtis may be the only album in history to see no less than four singles released prior to hitting its finally settled-upon street date. The failure of the first three singles led to the album’s delayed release and 50’s SoundScan prowess is now in question.
A 55-minute mess called Curtis, undoubtedly one of this year’s worst releases.
It's funny, because of this album, I didn't listen to Graduation for a year after its release. During that time I was stuck with this cd and learnt to enjoy it after numerous listens. But looking back it wasn't time well spent.
Ayo Technology still bangs though.
