this is the band experimenting and doing it right. the chunky guitars and explosive drumming pair so well well with chucks vocals

One of the most underrated Testament records, this style fits them perfectly. Heavy and melodic groove metal with sick, death metal-esque vocals. Wonderful, and it's even more wonderful if it has masterpiece of Trail of Tears.

To my surprise, after doing a pretty commercial heavy metal album, Testament decided "nah, we are going heavier now, even heavier than our previus stuff". And this is what Low is about - more heavier sound with more heavier riffs. And I think they nailed it.

The production on this album is by far the best one I have heard. The riffs and drums are punchy, the vocals are right where they need to be, and the guitar tone is very fitting for this direction. And the songs are overall ... read more

Obligatory groove metal experimentation for a thrash band in the '90s...except it's actually good? Very few thrash bands managed to pull of the groove metal shift, some of those albums being some of the worst music I've heard. But the user score actually gave me hope for one of these for the first time in a long time, and lo and behold, I was right to hold out hope. While the artistic change is welcome, I can't escape the feeling that it would've been far better if it cut some songs especially from the second half
