"Mournful" rumbles with static and void worship. The backing vocals make it have ethereal acceptance, very nice droney intro. "Portrait" wastes no time dragging you down fast, heavy blasting and cavernous vox. I like leadwork as well. Another Defacement album and it's absolutely phenomenal, with amazing writing, experimental sonic textures and some less genre variety, but comprised for the more progressive songwriting. Lot's of heavy riffs and atmospheric parts make up for a cohesive experience
The bleakness and softness are so well balanced here. Some songs are definitely among my favorites of the year, it’s technically impressive but it doesn’t lack emotion—it’s sad and menacing, but very calming at the same time.
good dissodeath with an excessive amount of interludes. wasn’t a big fan of the more post-metal inspired passages, but the riffs are good, with the second and last track being highlights. will probably return to this album but only its main songs
