Built To Spill. Recently I listened to their notorious 'Perfect From Now On', and it was without a doubt one of the greatest pieces I had ever laid my ears upon. Later the same day after doing some digging I discovered that they had a pretty unknown live album, and as a live album enthusiast I just HAD check this out. The live version of "Broken Chairs" and the epic cover of Neil Young's "Cortez the Killer" alone would justify a very high rating. Also very enjoyable are the covers "Virginia reel around the fountain" as well as "Singing Sores make perfect swords", and of course the live versions of "Stop the Show" and "I would hurt a fly".
the rest is ‘usual’ live material, but the 20-minute Cortez the Killer cover and the 19-minute version of Broken Chairs is truly unmissable stuff. it’s like they got an injection of LRD energy in those two songs, and i personally think that only Velvet Waltz tops those two songs. to even scratch PFNO in quality is incredible, let alone surpassing most of the songs on it; but, they done did it here
