I don’t want to freak out but this is definitely not only Welles best work but a brilliant album to boot, it’s the first album that has cohesion between songs that isn’t just folk ballads or themes of nature, the lyricism on display is excellent and the extra stuff added in feels not only natural but complementary to the field recordings instead of hindering the studio releases (as with middle)
Best song: John
Worst song: Don’t We Get By
Three albums in one year is insane. It's even more insane that each one has been better than the last. This feels like Welles' most cohesive and whole project so far, with really focused lyricism, solid singing and really nice production on the simple, but touching instrumentals.
