This is without question Mayhem’s most immediate LP to date, and yet there is zero compromise on their underground ethics – a standing testament to the seasoned skill and expressive artistry wielded by its creators.

In spite of (or because of?) recent outlandish statements and the arguable publicity stunt, "Daemon" provides sufficient proof that the gentlemen of Mayhem are the kings of black metal.

Mayhem shocks by telling the truth about Hell — and the truth is more fascinating, horrifying, and enthralling than mere fiction. That this truth is told through universally excellent riffs across a thoughtfully structured album that has perfect pacing and no dips in quality beyond the threshold of triviality makes Daemon a truly excellent record.

Daemon still has a lot to sink your teeth into, and fans of black metal and Mayhem should not miss out on it.

'Daemon' is a solid dose of black metal, and not much else.

Mayhem's latest release proves that, while they have yet to actually reach the peak they reached in De Mysteriis, they are slowly but surely crawling back up to that point. With each subsequent release they have been slowly reaching back up to the top, and Daemon is the first release since their debut to really show the band at their best.
I honestly hate to always bring up the masterpiece that is De Mysteriis in almost every one of my Mayhem reviews, but how can I not? They set the standard ... read more

to prepare for mayhem's newest album i decided to check out their last studio album Daemon and i was not disappointed with this album unlike the latest megadeth album this album is great every song has a very dark and evil sound to them and i love it and while this album isn't my favorite mayhem album this album might be my 2nd favorite mayhem or at least its up there for me because i just really like how dark and evil this album sounds and i'm genuinely ... read more
