On its own, it's a terrific, memorable effort, but in the context of Hypocrisy's beefy catalog, it's a bit derivative, one expects a bit more boundary-pushing via the twisted, trusted, and well-respected mind of Tagtgren.

This was an interesting album, I've seen the cover so many times and it's finally time to listen to it. I love Peter Tägtgren's vocals, always have, they really elevate the sound. The riffs stand out in the very saturated Swedish melodeath scene, which I appreciate. They've got a great blend of heaviness and melodic moments, and I'm noticing how they manage to let the songwriting be one of the more important aspects without trading off other qualities.

“The Arrival” is the first album from popular band “Hypocrisy” that I have heard, after seeing the cover art in my Spotify recommendeds and thinking it looked funny. Well, this album is not funny at all, but it is very good! It is of the melodic death metal genre, and offers a sound that sacrifices speed and ferocity for a dark atmosphere, deep melodies and storytelling, which helps the listener visualize the story that is being portrayed throughout the album.
