Twenty years removed from the success of No Strings Attached, one thing remains certain: crossing genres in music certainly warrants a wider audience.
It has a few outstanding pop tracks, and little to no filler. It is enjoyable from start to finish, and Timberlake and Chasez show unbridled promise on this record which, in Timberlake's case, came to fruition soon enough.
The songs on No Strings are consistently stronger than the drivel on their debut.
The trend continues with ‘N Sync’s No Strings Attached, on which the gawkiest-looking teen idols ever manufactured attempt to demonstrate they’re not well-mannered and groomed careerists but hip-hopping party boyz.
No Strings Attached contains some of the essential Y2K pop songs of the 2000s. The teen pop from the past is so simplistic and clean, it's really endearing. JC and Justin carry the album with their smooth vocals and No Strings Attached grew on me heavy—not least the cheesiness.
Songwriting wasn’t the strong suit here, but *NSYNC definitely brought the energy and enthusiasm. Starting off with the 2 big hits of Bye, Bye, Bye and It’s Gonna Be Me was a smart choice, as it hooks you in, before the rest of the songs come on in a very mixed bag of quality.
favorite song: No Strings Attached
