There’s a lot going on here, more than is apparent on early listens, but Clark’s synthesis of intelligence and listenability is close to flawless across the thirteen tracks on offer here.
At times luring you in with misty salvation, at others forcing you to take cover from a blitzkrieg of caustic textures, Clark is anomalous but deeply rewarding.
The album adds a fresh layer of grandiosity that hints at festival-sized dance music or even Trent Reznor’s churning soundtrack work while never bowing down to any type of current trend.
Clark unleashes an uncompromising downpour of ideas collapsed between eroded rebar and concrete.
The producer applies singular touches, from unpredictable changes in course to treated field recordings ... that help yield the kind of depth and richness that typify so much of his previous output.
Clark is a Swiss Army Knife of a record, and the Warp veteran has succeeded in keeping his nimble fingers intact.
Even when Clark is firing sounds at bewildering speeds, it's never a chore—in other words, it's a lot more fun than Clark's reputation might suggest.
Holy shit I finally have a Clark album with a 90+ score this is amazing. Clark’s self titled album is just an incredible Techno and IDM album. This thing is filled to the brim with excellent Techno bangers with just the perfect flair of IDM added onto them. This is easily Clark at his best, I mean I’m not sure why I chose to listen to Death Peak over this because this is miles better. I like Body Riddle but this is just stellar, his Techno production is unreal on this thing. Beats ... read more
For all the reasons I loved (love) Amon Tobin, Clark creates an electronic puzzle of sounds new and old, hinting at the dance floor but never going all in.
After "Iradelphic", Clarke decided to simplify the melodies, set them to a straight beat, and become more enjoyable. But it had the opposite effect. For his caliber, the album sounds terribly flat and overly easy.

"Clark" has had a lasting influence on my taste in music. Reviews describe the album as a powerful explosion of techno, electro, noise and ambient . The balance between human vulnerability and machine precision never ceases to impress me. For me, this album is not only a listening experience, but also a reference and a sound vision.
