Hey fam, I just listened to Good Faith again! It has risen up my list (from like 80th position to somewhere around 60th). But although it has risen up the list, I don’t think my opinion of it has changed much. I think that "Good Faith" is disappointing when compared to his previous album, it feels "too safe" and when I’m listening to it, I can’t help but believe that it sounds uninspired (and has a lot of Porter Robinson elements/vibes, especially the heavily auto-tuned vocals lines).
That said, I do think that it is an appreciable electropop/dance-pop album, but I feel like it is lacking on so many fronts that, I don’t know man... I can’t help but believe that Madeon could surprise me so much more!
I remember that you mentioned Jack Ü in the comment section of my list. For me, what makes Jack Ü’s debut more enjoyable than "Good Faith" is that it was daring and contained songs that were fairly different from one another.
I've heard great things about Hudson Lee's debut! I've been wanting to listen to it for a while now but because it's an hour-long, I keep procrastinating on doing it lmao
I strongly believe that Alon Mor is one of the most under-appreciated and sadly, slept-on musical genius of the Electronic Dance Music realm. So many more people should know that he exists ☹️
The final song of an album is one of the most important things to it. To make you feel satisfied, an album closer has to look at everything an album has done and say, "Hey, how am I going to make a satisfying ending to this story?" Album closers are incredibly hard to execute and many don't feel how they should. It takes a lot of talent for an artist to wrap up their own piece of work effectively and make a listener feel satisfied.
Which leads me to my question: what is your favorite album closer/finale of all time and why?
