ROLLING STONE #224
i like country as much as the next person and I really didn't mind this album at all but nothing really stuck - not the hits, not the slow ballads, everything sort of flew over my head because it all just went by quick (which is a good and bad thing). i really enjoyed the moments where they utilized a bit more of the twangy country sound with "goodbye earl" or "sin wagon" but my favorite undoubtably is the final track

I'm not a great country fan but I like songs suchh as Cold Day in July, Goodbye Earl or Sin Wagon and I appreciate the sublte arrangements, witty instrumentation and fine singing of the Chicks, in particular their fifth album Fly..

Like even though this is technically considered country pop, it feels rustic. Natalie Maines is probably my favorite female country singer at the moment, her voice is just so good! It's like a perfect mix of Dolly Parton and Celine Dion. The production is really good on here as well, and those snares have that 90s snap that I love! The ... read more
