While Psychedelic Shack is chock full of agonizingly cheesy lines (see the title track and Friendship Train), it is also fun of energetic and exciting grooves (also see the title track and Friendship Train). The biggest flaw on this record is Kendricks' falsetto is an uncomfortable mismatch for the funky, psychedelic style the record takes on. For some reason I'm a big fan of bands that typically sing about love and romance completely diverging. In this embrace of psychedelia, they discuss deepdiving into your mind, going beyond your reality, and whether war is good for anything, or absolutely nothing. The concept plays out well over the entire album, and the voices distinguish themselves dramatically from a choral group swaying and snapping and show how much they really can offer.
