Improbably but thankfully, Grimes gets better with every release. As in significantly, staggeringly better.
There's an eerie, supernatural undercurrent to these songs, and the moody instrumental pieces that surround them.
The premise is watertight for sure: Get two of Canada’s most intriguing new artists to take on a split EP, a side apiece.
The worst work of Grimes still has the Vanessa masterpiece
"Darkbloom" has a couple of outstanding tracks ("Vanessa" and "Transparency") on this split EP and Grimes' side mixes in pop and experimental electronic soundscapes pretty favorably. Unfortunately, this collab suffers from some odd production choices and d'Eon's side drags on compared to his more well-known friend.
