A twisted yet amazing album that will lure you in with its excellent sound, archaic references and soaring vocals. This album is great for those who are seeking something different that feels familiar.

Opus Eponymous is an extraordinary debut that slowly peels back surprise after surprise as you delve into its 35 minutes of music. Sure, the style is old-school, but it's musically very rich, often more subtle than riff-oriented, and as closing instrumental "Genesis" proves, capable of moments of disarming beauty.

AllMusic

Although its songs are rife with heavy metal's favorite subject matter and unmistakably menacing brand of staccato guitar riffing, the restraint of their attack, not to mention their production (no overdriven amplifiers are to be found here), hark back to what passed for a metallic aesthetic during the very early '80s, or even before.

The lyrics are very cultist and satanic, but still catchy. The slightly deadpan vocals only make the sound eerier--along with the sinister organ, of course.

I used to dislike it because of the vocals but they grew on me
Really good debut from a band that's shaping up to be one of the defining metal groups of the 2010's

One of them strongest debuts in Rock. Ghost came through with a personality all of their own from the jump.

Opus Eponymous is a great doom metal record, and an amazing debut for one of the most beloved metal bands of the 2010s.
To be honest, as much as I love this, there really isn't much that I can praise about this. The vocals are nothing to write home about and the instrumentals are usually not too interesting, with the exception of a few tracks like Genesis which had extremely admirable guitar work. However, this album has a charm about it that just makes me like it so much. Sure, it's amateurish ... read more

Not their best, but still a strong one. The bases are laid, great debut for a band that will continue to refine their aura in their romanticaly macabre hard-rock. Elizabeth still one of their best song to date.
