Rattle and Hum marks the point in U2's career where the case for Bono being completely full of himself really starts to gain traction. Not so much on the studio tracks, or the live takes of some of their songs, but pretty much everywhere else. I mean, this thing begins with one of the most douchey things the man has ever said. No bad songs, but just strange choices and some lingering issues, like why include some of the songs even if they are OK? Like Hawkmoon 269, just a strange choice to me.
For the second part of their quest, they use live recordings and new material as the effective Trojan horse to slip inside America.
