Their love of HM-2 is evident, and comparisons to Knocked Loose or Code Orange ... aren’t off the mark at all, but make no mistake, Heriot are their own beast entirely. Their sound is already expansive, touching on a myriad of influences while crafting something fresh and unflinchingly experimental.
While a weighty statement on its own, Profound Morality arrives as only a teaser of their boundless potential—the past, present, and possible future of metalcore.
I'm literally shivering from how good this is lol. Brutal and melancholic, juicy guitar sections, harsh vocals, i love everything about this. I appreciate some hard moments of chaos and other moments of stillness which are really well-balanced in this EP. Huge fan of everything that is going on here
Insanely good EP. Brutal, heavy and obscure through and through. There's not a single boring moment, or that it feels unnecessary.
April 2022 Reviews:
This EP blends sludge metal and metalcore in a way that feels like Emma Ruth Rundle wrote an album with End, and to some effect, it works pretty well. I'm not sure what I would have wanted, but I think overall, I was expecting a bit less downtime and a bit more power. There are awesome moments and so I do recommend this.
