Hidden gem in her discography for sure
I say that but really she just doesn't have a single bad album from the deep dive I've been doing recently. Its a crime that this doesn't have a must hear it is amazing the whole way through. The short runtime makes it a bit lower because it feels like an EP of sorts but that doesn't take away from how great it is. Beautiful. Was having a bad day and thought "Ichiko Aoba would save me" and I was right. This is a very sparse and gorgeous project, just Aoba and the guitar. It's lightweight and just what I needed. Short and sweet, Sabrina Carpenter WISHES her projects were built like this.
while not as consistently high level as 2010's "kamisori otome", ichiko aoba's 2011 output "origami" is still an incredibly comfortable and fulfilling singer songwriter experience. with just a guitar and her beautiful voice, aoba does it again with 8 stellar tracks that do a lot for the listener in just over twenty minutes. just those two elements seem like not a lot, but the way this album manages to weave those two things into each other once again is just ... read more
Origami is yet another incredible project from Ichiko Aoba. Though it has a few lower points and runs on the shorter end, tracks like 日時計 and レースのむこう make up for this vastly. I always find Ichiko Aoba sounds best in simplicity, and this idea is furthered by Origami.
