Duster's 1975 EP displays the group's deft touch with their sound, which mixes dreamy, confessional songwriting with subtle electronic and experimental touches.

Duster's slow, noisy and frayed sonic sludge is a thing o' beauty for those willing to look closely enough, and while their 1975 EP shows not a whit of growth from their two previous 7" or their 1998 debut, Stratosphere, it still delivers the sad space rock goods in fine form.

They wanna be The Beatles so bad with that album cover 😭😭😭

Shortly after the masterpiece that was "Stratosphere", in 1999 Duster decided to release this little EP called "1975", which would mark sort of a transitional period for the band, going into Contemporary Movement. Of course, considering this is coming right after Stratosphere, a lot of the ideas and concepts from that album try to be carried over to this project, and the result? Pretty great! Yet another amazing EP from Duster. I love how varied it is here, with the first track almost being an IDM influenced indie rock track followed by some more post-rocky and SRR influenced slowcore on the later tracks, with it getting really weird and spacey on August Relativity. The closer Want No Light to Shine though was easily my favorite, the combination of slowcore, ambient and post-rock I just found intoxicating. Overall it’s another amazing ass EP from one of my favorite bands in ... read more

This is honestly the best way I could have seen their music going after stratosphere, it keeps close to it's roots but it spreads itself out enough to be a step forward for them, I was majorly surprised by the motion picture, went under my radar in past relistens and things (are mainly ghosts) and want no light to shine are phenomenally beautiful tracks

First listen

The EP starts with the great Irato, which sounds very different from the Duster aesthetic that most people would probably know them for. After that the other songs keep getting better and better until August Relativity which I didn't really enjoy listening to. At least the EP ends on a positive note with the closer Want No Light to Shine. In the end I likes this project and I might make a list with all of their albums and EP's ranked.

Se nota que este ep lo hicieron un poco mas simple y a la ligera, pero sin embargo sigue teniendo una construcción muy buena y hay temas que son simplemente hermosos, i want no light to shine se volvio uno de mis temas favoritos en su discografía.
