The yang to Astral Weeks' yin, the brilliant Moondance is every bit as much a classic as its predecessor; Van Morrison's first commercially successful solo effort, it retains the previous album's deeply spiritual thrust but transcends its bleak, cathartic intensity to instead explore themes of renewal and redemption.
Its meticulous weaving of silky Motown soul re-envisioned through classic bop-era jazz influence and British blues sets the bar ridiculously high, but Van is able to retain this golden standard throughout the whole of Moondance.
One of the best feel good records I've heard in a long while. Van Morrison's voice is so distinguishable, his performances on this are strong throughout. The first two tracks on this too, And It Stoned Me and Moondance, are essential, timeless listening.
Van Morrisons 3rd album 'Moondance' might just be my personal favourite album from him so far, it sees him at his most humorous, his most refined and as a whole this album is just really fun all. The production choices on this album feel a lot more enjoyable to me, they sound pretty straightforward and blues-y in contrast with 'Astral Weeks' which to me felt like it was meandering way too much but none of those issues occur here, there's even moments where there's inspirations from other genres ... read more
Eu não preciso achar um artista fisicamente atraente para apreciar sua música .
Van Morrison tem uma voz espetacular e os arranjos das canções são cativantes e de ótimo gosto.
Só tem clássicos dentro desse LP e Hozier se inspira muito nele .
A prime example of the B-side syndrome, where the A-side is far superior to the latter.
