Giving listeners a brief taste of their boundary-pushing creativity, on ‘Slice’ O. demonstrate just how much can be done with a pair of drumsticks, a baritone sax, and some significant pedal wizardry.
On Slice, O. are already in the enviable position of possessing both a signature aesthetic and the confidence to stretch it out without worrying about losing their sense of identity.
It has been a pretty dry New Music Friday, but when I saw this album appear I knew I was probably in for a treat, so I strapped myself in for some brand new music from people I have never heard before. The sound of this record is pretty unexpected and interesting. It heavily reminded me of the Maruja's EP combined with more heavier and psychedelic stuff. Even if it's pretty short, SLICE has a lot of fun and it's nice to listen to.
a more funky version of the new wave of UK jazzy post-punk, but it fails to really captivate me, not a single climax moment, it feels pretty monotone
Interesting project fusing jazz with rock in some unexpected ways.
However, the real treat comes at the end with ATM and its glorious syncopated rhythms and unexpected musical decisions. Good though undercooked
