Looking at the reviews I was scared for this album, but like a lot of these later stage Kinks albums, I am finding myself really enjoying them. The biggest criticism of this album seems to be how standard and uninteresting the songs are, I would disagree for the most part (Side 2 starts to get a little generic).
The Best song on here is surprisingly another Dave Davies number: “Rock ‘N’ Roll Cities”
Big fan of The Kinks but this album just seem like they lost a lot of inspiration for creativity in sound and melodies. Lots of goofy songs aswell with repetitive choruses. This saddly gets a down for me.
Suave, smooth, and modern (for the time). A new evolution emerges as they fully lean into the new decade’s trends and tricks, embracing materialism, technology, and pop art.
