It’s still unclear whether Xzibit will eventually rise to the level of Eminem and Snoop, but Restless demonstrates Dr. Dre was right to add the rapper to his investments.
While Restless isn't the crowning achievement many predicted, it is X to the Z's most consistent effort to date.
Restless is not a bad album, in fact it’s much better than most other releases as of late, but it’s still far from being representative of Xzibit‘s potential.
Restless doesn't stray away from Xzibit's West Coast roots. From the stark bass-thump to the low-riding pacing, from Erick Sermon's blaxploitative strings on "Double Time" to Dre's tinny march on "X," the tracks complement his tales of 'hood trivia.
Solid, but the layer of shine and polish that was applied on X's style for this release isn't my favorite form of his - I prefer the rawer stuff on At The Speed Of Life.
Big shift in sound from his two 90s projects. Xzibit goes from rapping like an east coast rapper to embracing his west coast sound more, specifically the mainstream G-Funk / Gangsta Rap sound of Dr. Dre. I'd say it works for the most part on here, there's some insane highs on the album but also some songs that just sufficed and nothing else. I liked every song on this album, but there were a few that didn't really stick out, which was never a problem on his first two. I just hope that trend ... read more

classic and great album by xzibit
truly in my opinion one of the most underrated hip hop albums ever, this album is pretty damn good with tracks like front 2 back, DNA, dont approach me, been a long time, etc. xzibits delivery and flow is so unique and it goes hard, especially with these dre produced beats. his pen game is also very on point in this album. only after dont approach me the tracklist gets a little inconsistent with tracks like fucking you right, rimz & tirez, double time, ... read more
