As a whole, Dostrotime is easily one of the most well-rounded Squarepusher albums, displaying his range as an artist while housing some of his nuttiest tracks.
Dostrotime is an interesting record that took the Drill and Bass genre in a different direction than usual I see with a more grounded darker atmosphere and a couple of interesting ideas. The production here is pretty stellar with a lot of great grooves and dynamic rhythms, this record gives some interesting soundscapes too with even a little bit of folk guitar at one which was an interesting thing to see in the Drill and Bass album.
Personally speaking I don't think as Squarepusher he's ever put out a bad album. Just A Souvenir was one of my favorite albums of that decade and since then he's always done new things to challenge himself which you have to respect.
One of Squarepusher's best albums in awhile. Not that previous ones were bad, but there seems to be more cohesion on this one. Aside from the 3 "Arkteon" tracks, the whole thing feels like a return to the drill n' bass bread n' butter that put Squarepusher on the map. Tom's still in form, it gives me high hopes for this year album coming (lowkey excited). Anyway, I clearly like this one, it feels like "Feed Me Weird Things" but ultimately more chill and topped with pretty neat use of acid synths.
Also, I might the only one who unironicly thought of geometry dash for some reason while listening to it, multiple times. (correct me if I'm wrong).
I'll probably relisten to it to see if I'm just spitting some kind of nonsense
