I get why this is so divisive. Following up your magnum opus with a record that lacks virtually everything that made people like you in the first place (most notably any trace of hip hop) is a bold move. I still find a lot to enjoy here when I alter my expectations.
Long road trips to southern America have never been this enjoyable. Watching the midwestern countryside race past my vision like a living mural while the enervating instrumentals of Josiah Wolf pierce into my brain and the melancholy cries and pleas of a middle aged nobody wail into my eardrums to much fanfare of my like-minded brain.
