The rawness behind making a living is balanced with a good swig of whiskey, and despite the band's aggressive presentation, this is no motley crew. Blackout is honest in words and heart, so raise your fist.
With an agenda like a more hardcore Billy Bragg, the Murphys have always managed to avoid punk clichés; with their Stiff Little Fingers, the Clash and Pogues mixture, and Blackout is no exception.

Really solid punk record here, definitely more focused on that energy than their folk elements but overall you can tell this is where it started to really round into form for them. Super fun band with tons of energy. Still longing to see them on St Paddy's day.
Such a fun fucking listen from start-to-finish! Really underrated punk rock with Celtic fusion!
