Somehow actually met all expectations but the Kanye influence is a bit too visible.
fav. song: FE!N
Instrumentally very diverse but quite the opposite when it comes to the cast of vocalists Metro chose for this album.
fav. song: Around Me
I love everything that other people dislike about this album. It's the hypest, most overly consumerist big baller music ever. The production is so over-the-top luxurious and Kanye and Hov go bar for bar with each other on it. There's so many funny and iconic bars throughout the album and there isn't a single skip in the entire tracklist. The deluxe is also great but reissues get zero traction on this site so yeah.
fav. song: Who Gon Stop Me (previously Why I Love You)
A triumphant mix of extremely maximalist and minimalist music.
fav. song: Guilt Trip
Insane flows, phenomenal storytelling and some of the best production of any album in history. Not one weak moment from start to finish.
fav. song: Threat
Kanye just pulling ideas out of his ass and perfecting them down to last detail.
fav. song: No More Parties In L.A.
This thing definitely grew on me. Some tracks on UU absolutely could have made it onto one of Kendrick's albums if it weren't for his perfectionism. The tape is consistently enjoyable and showcases K's talent and creativity very well, but for being this short it's got one too many musical pauses (interludes, yap sessions, etc.).
fav. song: untitled 03
I don't wanna make a corny ass pun but that's exactly how i feel.
fav. song: DUCKWORTH.
Kendrick tells a cinematic story over diverse, yet carefully selected beats. My only issue with this album is Kendrick's inability to sing and him trying to do so very hard.
fav. song: Sing About Me, I'm Dying of Thirst
I finally enjoy this thing all the way through and it's amazing. Every song does its own thing and has just the right placement within the tracklist.
fav. song: Leaf
Whole Lotta Red offers Carti rapping on top of the most mind numbigly dull beats and he does it in the best way possible. This thing feels like it shouldn't be enjoyable but it somehow is, and very much so.
fav. song: Over
I really enjoyed this the second time around. In fact, it's my favourite Pusha album now. I loved the wonky production done by two of the most talented producers in the game and P absolutely did these beats justice. The album sounds diverse and fresh with every new track, yet the transitions aren't too harsh (unlike on DAYTONA).
fav. song: Hear Me Clearly
Although I don't personally enjoy every moment on the album, I have to recognise that it's an absolutely essential listen for every music fan and contains some of the most iconic Hip-Hop songs ever. This album cemented JAY-Z as one of the greats and had immense effects on the music industry, such as bringing Kanye West into the mainstream.
fav. song: Heart of the City (Ain't No Love)
Tyler creates a very colorful and dramatic blend of genres to go through every emotion in one album.
fav. song: IGOR'S THEME
Simultaneously the most overproduced and raw album ever.
fav. song: Gorgeous
It really has everything. This album explores so many aspects of music, something for everybody, no matter how you enjoy music. It's absolutely essential for every fan of music.
fav. song: The Blacker the Berry
The music itself is great but there's a few too many skits which makes a full album listening experience a bit less enjoyable.
fav. song: Two Words
