SoFaygo - MANIA

Absolutely nothing happens on this record but I can imagine it's probably alright in the club.
fav. song: NOTICE ME

Although it does undoubtedly have its iconic moments, for me the flaws often outshine them.
fav. song: Shawn vs. Flair

The Weeknd - Hurry Up Tomorrow
70

My main and only problem with the first two albums in the trilogy was the bad use of filler songs. They simply didn't serve any purpose other than filling up the tracklist. On Hurry Up tomorrow, Abel manages to avoid this problem at first, by making the whole album a cinematic experience and letting the less exciting songs serve as ear candy that fits the overall soundscape and builds anticipation for the real highlight tracks. Sadly, this advantage over After Hours and Dawn FM is rendered ... read more

Mac Miller - Balloonerism
50

Maybe you had to be a Mac Miller fan before his passing to really enjoy this, but for me this is just nothing special.
fav. song: Stoned

The Weeknd - Dawn FM
70

The filler on this album does put a slight dent in the replay value but as a one time listen it was pretty nice.
fav. song: Sacrifice

Mac Miller - Circles
60

The lyrics are very touching, especially given the context, but musically this album is absolutely nothing special.
fav. song: Blue World

TiaCorine - CORINIAN
70

Really nothing that I didn't expect, just a consistently fun and enjoyable album.
fav. song: Backyard

Danny Brown - Stardust
80

Danny has never been my favourite rapper from a strictly lyrical perspective. I don't think I ever really thought a song of his had an amazing rapping performance, only some clever bars. I always thought his early work was overrated, since it was more focused on his lyrics and didn't have the crazy production he uses nowadays. I'm really happy that Danny transitioned into a very experimental lane, where he can display his wild musical ideas without having to rely strictly on ... read more

The Weeknd - After Hours
70

The production is beautiful, the pacing is just right but Abel's performance quality is spotty. The album relies heavily on its hits, which are amazing, but make the rest of the songs feel a little underwhelming. Basically the same problem as on Starboy but much less of it.
fav. song: Blinding Lights

Mac Miller - Swimming
70

It's a really nice ambient listen. The production is very beautiful but Mac's performances are often not very captivating.
fav. song: Ladders

cupcakKe - The BakKery
80

Sexyy Redd but like 10 times better at everything.
fav. song: Alcoholic

The Weeknd - Starboy
50

The production may be fun and danceable but I can't get behind The Weeknd's incredibly uninteresting vocals and lyrics throughout the majority of this project, with the exception of the opener and last two tracks.
fav. song: Starboy

Bruiser Wolf - MADE BY DOPE
80

I don't even care he's always doing the same thing. This is just another banger.
fav. song: Boss Up

Lil Baby - WHAM
50

More entertaining than I expected but extremely forgettable.
fav. song: Dum, Dumb, and Dumber

Mac Miller - The Divine Feminine
60

A few really high highs but most songs are just way too long and boring.
fav. song: Congratulations

Lil Baby - My Turn

Ty Dolla $ign - TYCOON
50

It's okay for the most part but there are a few real stinkers.
fav. song: DECEMBER 31ST

Tame Impala - Deadbeat
70

Really don't understand all the hate. This is such a diverse sounding and sonically colorful album, so many different styles and genres put into one big musical experience. Definitely not his best but also not nearly the massive flop some people are making it out to be.
fav. song: Dracula

The Weeknd - Beauty Behind The Madness
70

Not a huge fan of this style of music but I can't deny that the amount of hits on this thing is insane.
fav. song: The Hills
