Probably the least bored I've ever been listening to a Gunna album but that doesn't really mean much.
fav. song: ca$h $hit
Lots of fun moments but almost just as many filler tracks.
fav. song: IPHONE
There's lots of good stuff on here but the filler is holding the project back from being really good.
fav. song: Jedi Code
Absolutely amazing album experience from start to finish. It may not have the highest highs of his career but it's definitely his most consistent record to date. Absolutely worth the wait.
fav. song: STFU
Another great release in Benny's consistently good catalogue. Only negative thing I can say is that Johnny P's Caddy feels wrong as an intro, it coulda been an amazing outro.
fav. song: Johnny P's Caddy
Another Benny project with solid raps and great beats. I'd even say it's better than the first one.
fav. song: No Instructions
Sharp and impactful rapping over really enjoyable production. What more do you really need?
fav. song: Famous
For how talented she is this feels a little underwhelming.
fav. song: Believe me
I just don't like Westside Gunn and I think I'm gonna have to accept that I'll forever be alone on that. This might just be my favourite set of features for any album ever but the main artist's rapping is just so dull and flat that not even a feature from BLACK STAR can save the day.
fav. song: Shootouts In Soho
It's only really enjoyable when he purposefully plays a little too far into the gimmick, when you can hear that he's not trying to sound even remotely intelligible. The tracks that he actually takes seriously are just plain boring.
fav. song: Who You Foolin
I can definitely see why many people elevate this above most other Gunn releases, there are lots of great ideas scattered across this project but for me the same definitive flaws are still just as prevalent as always. On the surface it seems like a sonically coherent album with a very pleasant soundscape, once you actually listen closely though, you notice that most songs are either carried completely by the feature or just feel wrong. By that I mean that Westide Gunn often doesn't know ... read more
Nas is just as good as always but Premier was pretty mediocre on this one. To be fair he was always one of my least favourite legendary Hiphop producers, easily overshadowed by guys like Q-Tip and J Dilla. Nas still has interesting things to talk about but his lyrical genius is slowly fading. At his age he needs solid ground to stand on and DJ Premier just can't provide it anymore. Both artists still have some talent left but they're far from the iconic duo they used to be.

I'm sure if you're 28 and from Atlanta this probably resonates with you deeply but for everyone else it's just an okay attempt to make some semi-lyrical trap music.
fav. song: I WISH
The first three songs were very decent imo but after that it went downhill immediately.
fav. song: HOTEL LOBBY (Unc & Phew)
Two of the sharpest lyricists of all time join forces to create a skipless 13 track masterclass of writing.
