Explosive, expressive, and emotional. This is a fun and extensive album, one that isn't afraid to see itself disgustingly to truly express its love.
It definitely has something special in it, found often in the melodies and singing. Yet, I would say it's held back by a goal to exert itself much further than one may expect from such a project. It explores angles that wouldn't be found in an unusual noise emo pop project, but I do applaud the effort. Even if I feel it ... read more
An enjoyable time, with the last few tracks offering an amazing send off from what was a pretty fine introduction. It's fun, bombastic, bursting with energy that won't be for everyone. But those who are fine with noise, it's a damn good time.
Cute little album. It's a lot of covers and arrangements based on the Touhou games, and it's just a fun listen if you want a nice, calm backing album to listen to while studying or going about your business.
I've been listening to this album since I was in high school. It's rich in texture, sound, and playfulness in execution. It's just a joy to listen to while studying or being out of the house.
A very energetic punk rock album that is full of depth and fun. It's blooming with creativity, heart, and a clear passion to showcase what they wish to be and the change they want to represent.
A soft-sounding album that explores the ideas around loneliness and strange confusion among the changing tides of the tender life Webster once knew. It's heartfelt, with the last few tracks not being able to match the atmosphere and a strange, comforting vibe the other half had had.
A must-listen EP. It features amazing production and songwriting, with the album capturing sonically the mood of melancholy without feeling like it's just wallpaper or just to have it.
A great album that has Jeff Buckley singing his heart out. Incredible production, passionate, but I wished the second half (for me) was as strong as its first half. Still a great album, don't get me wrong, but I did feel a little more worn by its second half in comparison to how brisk the first six songs had flowed into one another.
It didn't click how incredibly avant-garde this was until track 7, "Paraiso 1," played, and it all made sense to me. The album is such an interesting and intense listen. It's so loud, confusing, and almost annoying to listen to. Then, suddenly, the heavens clear, and silence prevails. It's so tranquil, distilled, almost a feeling of light on thee.
This album reminded me that not all great music is easy to listen to, but all great art will require you to experience it ... read more
A smooth and slick 15-track album that is glassy, smooth, and without fear to say that we must party to be human.
The second mixtape by the artist The Weeknd has me scratching my head.
Although I wasn't the biggest fan of the first mixtape ("House of Ballons"), I found the mixture of sounds and lyrics to be still a compelling listen. "Thursday" is very much a different look, with a focus on subtleness against the more outright, in-your-face party that The Weekend explored in "House of Balloons."
Where it struggles is how long many of the tracks are, leading to a ... read more
I am not familiar with country. In fact, I would say I avoid it. It's just a genre I find myself not enjoying due to my assumptions.
I had heard one of Gram Parsons' tracks before, that being Hot Burrito #1 (Solo Alternate Take) off of "The Early Years EP". I found it interesting to listen to, as it had this hypnotic sound and songwriting that I couldn't find anywhere else. Enter: GP.
Despite some of the tracks being somewhat simple compared to some other tracks, the ... read more
I listened to this while reading papers on plants. A fun background album, though I feel some of the tracks overstay their welcome despite how short the runtime is for the majority of the tracks.
Like a clock, every piece of this art was done with purpose.
An incredible celebration of West Coast rap, with Kendrick Lamar being able to balance fun and energetic rapping with his more well-known self-reflective tracks. One track can have Lamar rapping about his recent success, to then a self-reflective breakdown of what kind of artist he wishes to be. This album shows that despite what Lamar had outputted with "Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers", he can still deliver a blend of outstanding verses and insightful lyricism that only a select ... read more
An incredible, yet haunting album. It explores the melancholy feelings that can appear when things sometimes don't work out, when you are faced with the idea that something you thought you loved isn't working out anymore.
Incredible lyricism and beautiful composition are evident throughout the songs, with each track complementing one another to create a clear throughline of messaging and imagery.
An amazing compilation that showcases the beauty and wonder that Evangelion has. It's a series of tracks that with or without the context of the series or scene one may typically need to appreciate it fully isn't an issue. Each track is beautifully composed, sang, and crafted to near perfection, creating an experience that many media empires similar to NGE may only hope to achieve.
