When I first heard Denzel Curry had formed a new group called the Scythe alongside A$AP Ferg, TiaCorine, Key Nyata and BKTHERULA, I was really excited and listening to the first two singles "LIT EFFECT" and "THE SCYTHE" built up my excitement further. Never thought in a million years that Mariah Carey would be still doing music in 2025, but I'm pleasantly surprised by this song. Mariah's vocals are mesmerizing and the boom bap beat meshes well with her voice.
TBH This deserves way more recognition. Dove Cameron's voice has never sounded this powerful and the synths go hard. I also liked the build-up to the chorus and "If you say I'm too much, baby go find less" is a very good lyric. The song as a whole is very well-written. Sure, it sounds like your typical electropop song, but so do most of of the electropop songs.
This sounds way too derivative from "Busy Woman" and "Good Luck Babe", but I do like the country influence and Sabrina sounds nice as always. The "Half your brain just ain't there" joke is great, but this song is pretty shallow and basic and superficial, so of course it's going to be a hit.
JPEGMAFIA channeling Rage Against The Machine and Beastie Boys was not something I expected in 2025 and I'm here for it. Great track overall
