Definitely an enjoyable screamo album. Vocalists had the energy and rawness to his voice that it really carried this album. On the instrumental side I felt it didn't always leave much of an impression. I feel like there's more that can be done there to compliment to vocals or at least to stand out more. That being said, it was all still quite good. I give the interlude some points as it feels on theme with the rest of the album but I'm still not a fan of things like this and it ... read more

Recommended to me by a friend after they played locally. I can see why he liked it and how this could be enjoyable in a show, its a pretty solid metalcore album. Haven't dived too much into metalcore, what I have listened to always stuff I can appreciate but not necessarily my favorite or all that intriguing to me. The same thing happens here. Even though I enjoyed listening to most of the album and even found a few songs to add to my playlists I come away from this album with not much ... read more

The Taxpayers - "God, Forgive These Bastards": Songs From the Forgotten Life of Henry Turner

Probably the first folk punk album I gave a listen to. I find it interesting how they don't stick to just folk punk but also just have songs that are folk and songs that are just punk/hardcore. That being said, doing this means the album isn't very consistent in its energy and tone. I do like me some kinds of folk but the songs that were more folk here were less to my liking. Still an overall solid album, I had a good time listening to it. Standout track is As The Sun Beat Down.

Wondered why I hardly hear anything about this album, and I'm still left wondering a bit. Sure it doesn't have any songs that rival any of their big hits, but this album stays incredibly consistent throughout so every track is very solid and enjoyable with a few tracks that go a bit beyond that as well. Not their best or most exciting album, I get that. Regardless, it's still good and a bit slept on perhaps. Glad I gave it a listen, standout track is ... read more

This album is definitely carried by Chester's voice but that was always going to be the case doesn't mean it's bad on the instrumental side by any means. Chester has always highly regarded in part due to his amazing singing and this album is no different, its the main highlight and interesting for me hearing him in something outside of Linkin Park. There's lots of good stuff here in that regard and I'm glad I finally gave it a listen. I'd recommend this for sure to ... read more

About

Mostly enjoy rock/metal music but like and appreciate much more beyond that. Subgenres I'm currently very interested in are Punk, Shoegaze, Dark Wave, Post-Punk, and Goth Rock. I rate albums by individually rating the songs on it on a scale from 1-10 (with half points as well) and then taking that average. My library is for albums I liked and want to purchase a physical copy of.

No pop punk, no folk punk no post-punk. A ranking of punk rock, hardcore punk, egg punk, chain punk, skate punk and any other subgenre of punk I feel fits directly under the punk rock umbrella.

Exactly what it says on the tin. I really enjoy collecting and listening to records of bands/albums I enjoy. One of the best things about record shopping for me is when in a record shop I try to find ...
