Listened to this the night before trying to fall asleep, I wasn't able to sleep nor enjoy this album.
First track definitely took me by surprise, I didn't know the anomaly horror or whatever it was call back then was from this, so that discovery did allow me to enjoy the first few tracks.
That being said though, after Slightly Bewildered the high already passed and I just felt like I was going through loops of sound which started getting very irritating.
Im assuming this genre is ... read more
My first ever exposure to Rex Orange County, it's enjoyable! and it's alright.
I couldn't find it in myself to give this a 7, cuz really I don't see myself coming back to it often because of the rather uneventful middle section of the album from Laser Lights to Never had the balls, those 4 songs really brought down the experience.
Other than that though, Pluto Projector was a surprise! I remember back a few years when I still used instagram and scrolled reels I heard that ... read more
I love Ixtab, I love it a lot, but I wish I could feel the same about hades.
Probably one of the best 3 track opening runs I've ever heard that could only be compared to something like Symphony - Tameiki no Yukue from Lamp's Dream album, but this isn't about that rn. I want to first of all, glaze the absolute most I can for tracks #1, 2, 3, and 10, because genuinely those tracks are straight eargasm.
I cannot say the same about this incredibly mediocre and disappointing 6 track ... read more
Perhaps Jazz isn't really for me? This was my first exposure to the sound, and I'm honestly not too crazy about it, then again I don't feel any dislike to it either.
I'm still interested to listen to Bitches Brew, but that'll have to wait a bit.
I'm so sorry to my friend who spent $5 to purchase the cd at gods knows what record store.
I think I'm gonna sit with 'It's Alright' for a bit before giving my rating, but it isn't gonna be high.
Coming from Kaze himself I'm honestly quite disappointed, this ep just felt like a cash grab putting all his singles with the only new addition being that one song. It's Alright sounds very... cheap, and that's saying something as I absolutely cannot get enough of his past works even until now.
Out of all his singles I genuinely thought it ... read more
Based on the first listen, I really see myself coming back only for the track 'Halo'.
This is my first experience on any of Airiel's music and I'm hoping for more going down the Winks & Kisses series. This short ep left me wanting more but fortunately the last track met those expectations, without it the rating would've just been a 5 or 6.
I've never done drugs before but I trust that this album is close enough to how my favorite uncle feels.
I need to stop looking at scores before going into albums...
Going into Love Deluxe I had high expectations, it's well praised, highly rated, and incredibly cherished. With all that in mind I started very excited but was let down immediately from the first track. For the most part I finished each song with either wishing it ended sooner, or wanting more from it. While the album did pick itself up starting from 'Kiss of Life', it still was just very okay for me.
Perhaps today ... read more
This album is regarded as one of the most important pieces of music in history, and I don't really hear it.
I was expecting a lot coming into this as my first exposure to The Beatles' music, and I honestly didn't really enjoy the first half as much as I did the second. I'd say the most enjoyable track from the first half for me was "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" as I've been absolutely digging progressive music lately be it pop, rock, or even metal ... read more
I've been on this album for a while now and have realized that I rated it too low.
I really wish Whodunit? was not a track in this album, it ruins what would be an amazing, fully entrancing experience the album would've offered (which is why I remove it from the tracklist when I listen :DDD). But other than that 1 single song everything else here is such a lovely listening experience I never get tired of.
The first piece of work I've ever come across from Ichiko Aoba's. It's quite new to me, never heard anything quite like this but I can tell I'm enjoying it.
I came back to this about 3 times since I first gave it a listen and it never fails to bring me to this other worldly state of feeling. Something about the thumping piano keys and unpolished recording charms me so much. I'll be looking forward to her other stuff :)
ICHI NI SAN SHI!
Absolutely insane album, definitely not what I was expecting from my impression of the album cover. The best way I can describe this experience sitting through this half an hour LP is that my brain is mushed and my head been boppin.
In terms of the tracklist I feel that it was really easy to pick out my least favourite of them all being "根性無しあたし、あほぼけかす", there just simply wasn't enough after that strong start with ... read more
First time coming into the Big Beat genre, I'm quite satisfied!
I remember hearing The Rockafeller Skank out of speakers while I was at a flea market in Tokyo. My dad asked me if I knew this song and I said no while bopping my head enjoying the music, and then he told me that this was super popular back at his time. My dad and I have very different tastes in music so it was really surprising to me that this is sort of the middle ground between our likings.
The album had a really strong ... read more
Recently came back to this album and I enjoyed it a lot more than I initially remembered. To me it's the first I've ever heard of this sort of "high energy" rock, if anyone knows the exactly genre I'd love to hear it cuz I wanna dive into this sound more.
I'd say of all the track, I don't have any complaints about any single one, I feel that they are all great in their own way but the main weakness of this album is the track order. It's so weird to me ... read more
kurayamisaka is back with their signature style, putting it into a J-Rock album that while is very different from their previous work, is still a strong release coming from the band.
It was definitely a mistake of mine coming into this album expecting a shoegaze sound as I really, REALLY loved their 'kimi wo omotte iru' EP, definitely one of my favourite releases to come back to cuz every track on that ep is just so hypnotizing. But anyway, this review isn't about that.
While ... read more
Somehow even worse than I'll put you in misery, but I don't have the heart it me to give this album lower than a 6. Just like the aforementioned album, I come back to this one as well mostly for the nostalgia and hard hitting tracks. While there aren't as many hard skips on this LP the songs are just so weak especially knowing what the band is capable of making.
This is already barely an album being less than 30 minutes, even then I feel like I could give this a solid 8 if the ... read more
Really cannot compare to their debut, if you know their story you also know it only gets worse from here. I come back mostly for the nostalgia and the few bangers, skipping the bad ones.
Fav: Endpoint/Trapped in the Past
Least: Territory Battle (seriously pusu why??!!)
This album is going to be my first introduction to Wave to Earth as well as korean music that isn't just mainstream k-pop slop! This one was recommended to me by my dear sister who is quite the fan of the trio and was surprised I hadn't listened to it, so I did!
I've never heard of them nor have I ever heard of their songs so this is a completely fresh listen for me, so going into this without any expectations I came out quite satisfied I'd say. Disc 1 of the album features ... read more
