Perfectly acceptable metalcore album, just wish the melodies were better + more consistent throughout the album
Boy August Burns Red really leaned into the “Progressive Metalcore” aesthetic for this one didn’t they? I’m not sure why they did that
This album very clearly take influence from NWOBHM bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and other bands of that era of music, and the band readily admits this on their Spotify page. Some of the riffs on here have a galloping quality very similar to an Iron Maiden riff, and there's one riff on the song Angst that sounds like, no joke, the riff from Fallen Angel by Poison. However, I do think the riffs work very well with the sort of melodic death metal/heavy metal vibe they're going for here. ... read more
The guitar is actually pretty nice on this album it’s a shame the drums are mostly garbage and the songwriting is monotonous. Oh and the album being almost 2 hours doesn’t help either.
The most predictable prog metal album I’ve ever heard.
There’s weird vocal sections on here that sound like Tomadachi Life characters talking. I’m not kidding.
The horns get very irritating after like 2 songs, death metal and synthetic sounding horns is strange to say the least, also apparently the bands name is Acrania not Arcania so I’m stupid
Absolutely gorgeous album, literally everything is so on point and the guitar solos are some of the best I’ve ever heard
This album as a whole isn’t interesting enough to justify a 76 minute run time. It’s just really kinda standard progressive death metal stretched out over an hour and sixteen minutes.
