Fleshwater - 2000: In Search of the Endless Sky
74

80 -> 74: After listening to this album quite a lot more, I don't believe this is one of their strongest efforts. I still stand by what I previously wrote below, just not as strongly.

Fleshwater has been a recent obsession of mine as I find their Debut to be amazing. And while their newest LP isn’t as great, it doesn’t have to be. It’s still a fantastic record and I thoroughly enjoyed it all the way through.

I’d like to start off with how this sounds EXACTLY ... read more

I’m shocked at how much heavier this is from what I expected! The bass is so filthy, the drums are mixed so well, the crunchiness of the entire thing is so brutal and satisfying, they did not disappoint!!

Greyhaven - Keep It Quiet
71

Greyhaven’s “Keep It Quiet” is one of the more interesting and cohesive metalcore releases I’ve heard this year. While some tracks are very forgettable and don’t leave a mark quite like “Cemetery Sun” and “Burn & Miracle” do. The whole album remains fairly consistent and engaging throughout.

The vocals from Brent Mills are fantastic and the hooks are so catchy and memorable. I do wish it was more instrumentally focused as things tend to ... read more

Mudvayne - Sticks and Stones

Sticks and Stones seems to be an improvement from their last single. While it’s not much better, there’s a lot more going on here that comes together to make a somewhat interesting sound. Ryan Martinie is also a bit louder here which is very much appreciated. Even if Ryan Martinie feels more involved at times, the overall mixing is still terrible and it’s just as corny (which is to be expected). I can definitely see what they're going for but it's still pretty ... read more

Mudvayne - Hurt People Hurt People

Yeah I mean the mixing is just not great. It feels like they played it safe in just about every regard and it’s quite forgettable. For this being the first release in over 16 years from them, it's not fantastic.

Spiritbox - Tsunami Sea
56

Spiritbox's Second LP titled Tsunami Sea, has some enjoyable moments, but ends up feeling overproduced, boring, and often times repetitive.

Starting off with the positives, The riffs almost always hit hard and work very well outside of a few occasions. I really enjoy the heavy verses as I feel they add a lot and have a great sound to them. Courtney's voice sounds fantastic, her voice really compliments the overall sound. There are a few moments where her voice may feel a bit out of ... read more
