SWEET MICROTONAL GOODNESS!
For a band as prolific as King Gizzard in terms of both genre hopping and album output, there was no doubt that they were bound to return to a familiar territory at some point. In fact, their first microtonal venture, Flying Microtonal Banana was aptly subtitled 'Explorations in Microtonal Tuning Vol. 1' as the album cover of K.G. clearly has the label Vol. 2. I was listening to a random rave playlist and some of the songs reminded me of this album.
FTCC is their best song. Just shows how good of a songwriter May is cause I think it's the only song with her as lead (?). Rest of the songs are pretty good. Two Horses is so fun. Love the country twang. Closing track is also very very nice. Not much immediate impact here but I feel like this will be a grower. Gonna go back and listen to FTCC again.

that Animal Collective have successfully morphed into a psych-prog-rock odyssey group. They have stayed trued to their roots and their musicianship remains just as authentic and unique. Wish they'd kept the explosive middle section from the music box village but still this is amazing nonetheless, especially the final section. I love how subdued and melancholy it feels overall. Invokes a lot of feels for sure.
