I like youngboy[s] but this was hard to get through. I've always loved his aggressiveness and despite having an abysmal album run you would probably be suprised that many of my playlists - especially older ones, are littered with him yelling randomly over trap beats. In saying that, his singing is almost as good as steven hawkings, and this album showcases that on full display. Make no sense, in control, gang shit, are all tracks I enjoyed but I'm pretty mixed on the rest. Maybe ... read more
Some nice highlights, but consistency is important for me. Still confused how drake is brought up in top 50 lists.
As the bro @Cyktar said "Alchemist scammed me and my entire family tree by not releasing his collaborative LP with Mos Def, therefore I will be giving this album a 0!!!!!!"
Is Nicki Minaj the goat? No, but she is on Fantanos list of top 50 rappers. This album shows that its more a credit to how widely inaccurate that list is, and potentially picked based on inclusivity, rather than an actual statement on her rapping ability. Over an hour of radio friendly basic unoffensive music. She overexaggerates syllables to come off as charismatic but it only makes her sound unintelligent, especially paired with weak subject matter. Not helped at all by some stupid ass vocal ... read more
Tom Scott is easily one of my favourite rappers, I think because new zealand is very similar to Australia in terms of lifestyles, and the fact that so many new zealanders immigrate to Aus, because of the lack of oppurtunities in NZ, it has that added charm, but the crux of it is how personal and reflective his rhymes are. My main issue with this project is I really dislike the production and it seems to drag tom off his surfboard and drown his delivery out in the depths of the ocean. A lot to ... read more
Damn, shit has me smiling like a proud dad. I remember when I first heard the message and I was like a man standing behind an airplane taking off. You had this fearless leader in JEmz looking like he could take on a whole army, spenny with his charisma and cheekiness, yp establishing himself as the aussie hip hop goat with just one verse, and a masked up lekks with his incredibly catchy and ruthless bars. After that they went on a legendary run with each single having one of the members going ... read more
Great production, super jazzy, probably the fourth or fifth time I've listened and I still feel as conflicted as ever. I love the production, seriously such a hearthy atmosphere, but I can't express how much del's voice irritates me, incredibly goofy, nor can I express how average the rest of the emcees are - something to the effect as average as the median idk.
It's good?... What this record lacks in mixing it makes up for in character. Sensational production x gucci mane if he was rapping in the memphis scene (with a couple shots of juvenile and dirty south thrown in), some of the rapping is amateurish for sure, but its their to provide energy over consistently banging beats. One of those memphis records however, where the shit mixing does not add to the experience, in fact it takes an uzi and empties the clip into the heel of the record.
Incredibly ahead of its time, and whilst I can understand the rapping may not be everyone's cup of tea it provides nice energy, albeit with a better rapping this would be rated far higher - imagine Jeezy on these, unusual collaboration but I see it working like a Japanese businessman.
Bit torn because Roc [Hard] Marciano can be about as gripping as baby oil, he's as lethargic as Santa the day after Christmas, and he sounds like he's been smoking cigarettes without exhaling for the last 34 years. In saying that, when he gets going I can't help but be impressed. Mix in some extremely witty and charismic lyricism, some of the best in the game, and rap with a tone that cockily says beware the old man in a young mans sport, and you've got a retired soldier ... read more
I could rap better then some of this stuff tbh. Dark subject matter is turned into a joke because you have what sounds like at times 11 year olds rapping, and clumsy flows, and zero mic presence. Production is just average, so it is still not Iwannakillmyselfifihavetofinishthistape (and it would be the only victims the emcees ever caught!), but I wouldn't recommend this project, instead listen to captain C.
Some great highlights, especially the track with Black Thought and then Amethyst. Unfortunately Roc Marciano just chain smoking gremlin delivery and benzo flow is made hyper aware of when his lyricism drops below his creative best. Many of the later tracks were just so unengaging I was considering switching the project off, and when it finally finished I was excited to listen to Lil Uzi - something I never thought I would say in 2025.
Worse then I remembered, erase your social still great though. Feels like Uzi does too many high pitched vocals tbh, he hit so many great melodies with a deeper voice but most of the time its squeeky, which can be good when he's aggressive but he sounds about as angry as your grandma on mdma. Thought Uzi really had potential tbh, super charismatic, larger then life image, and some really great highlights; but looking back on his career its been pretty unimpressive.
Starts off promising but gets worse and worse as assumably rocko gets as high as a test rat. Peep 'I'm That Nigga You Answer To' and dip.
GREEN DOPE IS WHAT I SMOKE GREEN SMOKE IS WHAT I SMOKE GREEN DOPE IS WHAT I SMOKE. What a song. You also have unsolved mysteries with overwhelming havoc straight from hell, seriously vibes are equivalent to junkies in an alley playing the pots and pans feverishly [in a good way] - sounds like my type of party. I love the lofi but choatic production, unhinged vocals aren't in anyway polished or even particularly good but they inject raw energy which culminates in an unhinged masterpiece.
This production doper then cocaine. One of those tapes lost to time I think, deserves more love only 29 ratings on rym?
Pierre killed the production so vibey - sounds like something you could easily recreate 2016 xxl cypher with your friends. Money makin mitch is so underrated, Ferris wheel takes you to the skies, and honestly the consistency no skips for me even if there are some slightly weaker tracks - not talking about nutsack yall tripping funny asf and decent beat.
Had some potential but the mixing is about as well done as a cow thats charging at you. Sounds very similar to jpegmafia but far more enjoyable rapping, anything but whiny little bitching is far more enjoyable though so the standards not particularly high. Really fucked with escorts but the mixing was so atrocious the vocals were drowned out. Maybe it sounds better if your smoking ganja? Willing to give that a crack if people say it sounds decent after a smoke sesh but otherwise not ... read more
