“I thank the Lord, for every morning, he allows me to rise
And though the sun is shining, there's a cloud in the sky
Lettin' me know, that at any moment, there could be rain
And as beautiful as life is, there still can be pain
Down the park, I hear the sirens, just a screamin' away
And then the inevitable happens, the end of them days
As sad as it sounds, but that's the price we all gotta pay
And the whole world knows God giveth, will taketh away (will taketh away)

Brilliant production but unfortunately the rapping is very average and not up to the standard.
Was hoping for a Christmas miracle but although it’s pretty cool to have a new redman album if I’m being honest this is pretty average. Production felt super cheap and lacked that bounce which made muddy waters so great.
Coming out in '91 Naughty by nature's self titled record is a great illustration of how talented Treach was as a rapper. Not only was he head and shoulders above many of his peers, but I would argue that even many of the best rappers from the late 90s would struggle to compete with ferocious delivery and slick rhyme schemes. Overall there is some issues in consistency, maybe not too many 'bad' tracks, but there are certainly a few noticeably weaker tracks which prevent me ... read more
Really surprised me at how enjoyable this was. A great selection of instrumentals are really well complimented by Action Bronson. I actually really messed with the subject matter of AB's lyricism. Bars about his Bourgeois life style, and finer things to life give an atmosphere of royalty and feature a surprisingly solid selection of quotables.
I feel like other people have addressed these same points so I'll keep this brief. Fantastic production by Timbaland carries throughout. Personally I felt like Missy Elliot was just kinda there, didn't really engage me too much, but to her credit she didn't ruin the instrumentals and to her credit, she had her moments. Features were excellent.
When 50 cent actually went in he had some really nice moments but personally for me there were too many times on the mic he just wasn’t entertaining enough, very basic flows and rhymes and his charisma wasn’t outstanding enough to keep me engaged. One thing about 50 though is he for sure has joints, but those joints are often carried by some great production choices. On ‘Guess Who’s Back’ I felt the production and mixing made it feel like I was listening to the ... read more
Very underwhelming listening experience, which is a surprise because the albums highly acclaimed by a lot of people I genuinely respect as heads. Personally it felt like Sean Price had a decent voice, but his flow was just lethargic, and his bars were very basic allusions which were far from someone in the same lane like Big L. Production wise it didn’t blow me away either, some of the beats were good, but most of them were average and just seemed to miss match Sean’s rugged ... read more
My score may not be the most glowing for 'XXX' but I was pleasantly surprised by the listening experience. I thought there were many interesting moments with the production and for the most part it was good, if not great. I believe it did get a bit samey toward the end, and there were moments it felt cheap, but it gave the album direction and was very enjoyable.
I also thought Danny Brown was genuinely great on several tracks, I want to highlight his performance on the song ... read more
I already wasted more then enough time on this album, so fuck a review, here are just my raw thoughts from my thirds listen.
1. Sounds like a rodeo clown called clarence, seriously why is his voice so goofy and southern sounding? How can anyone take it seriously? wtf are these lyrics, they have no substance at all, and do people think Kendrick is actually ganster?? Old mate would get rolled by 13 years olds in my country for his shoes. The beat has nice bounce but sounds generic asf, sounds ai ... read more
You say you wanna fight nigga swing. Wayne always makes me wanna fight every motherfucker in sight i swear, basically an nba youngboy joint on tren.
How the fuck you miss a whole 100 shots? Gets shot* Nah RIP dolph, definitely a guilty pleasure of mine. The way 100 shots builds is masterful, like a bow straining before a shot.
Man kodak actually has joints but he has the consistency of fingerprints. Gave it all I go surprisingly one of my favourite joints, that beat is hypnotic and even tho he sounds like a sped he theres pockets where his drawl just hits. Tunnel vision fire as well, reckon I could make a classic compliation with best 10 kodak songs.
Where would you guys place Big L? And I’m talking as an emcee not an artist, so ignoring influence, and catalogue, 12 songs is consistency enough to prove it was no fluke surely.
Anyways I’ve been relistening to this album quite a lot recently and it honestly feels like it could grow as high as 95. People often criticise this project for the beats, including an older version of myself. But here’s a question in this scenario do the beats really have an impact on the listening ... read more
