Bigger and deffer (B.A.D) for me is a disappointment. LL showed so much promise as a young mc but this represented a devolution almost. A more commercial outing which although more consistent never reached the same peaks as previously despite the game evolving rapidly. His personality does solidify however and the love ballads on here are important also.
The OG, definitely sounds dated because of the lengthy song times but I think you have to consider the break dancing and block party origins present at the beginning of hip hop. PSK holds to this day as does shortened versions of the others bar FSC.
Schoolly D originated the gangsta rapper image, and inspired many moments on the record, however, Ice T manages to perfect the characture and offer a more iron out project which allows the marble to continue its journey. T's exaggerations on this record help craft an almost playful cartoon image, despite explicit nature of the record. I think that's why I appreciate this record looking back. For me personality get's you a long way, because I want to be engaged with the rapper ... read more
Internet music done well. Maybe the record is a little gimmicky, trying to fit every internet aesthetic into a short mixtape but it offers lofi chaos similar to memphis records which it obviously takes inspiration from.
So much to hate, but the incredible production somehow synthesises very well with the alternative delivery, especially the melody. The lyrics are very cringe at times, but also creative. An experience of oxymoronic quality in which the positives overwhelm the negatives after a bloody battle.
Honestly I wanted to relisten to this project to reevaluate lil baby somewhat.Trash rapper, overhated, inconsistent? Personally I lean toward the later. I don't think this website understands the hustle mindset of these trap rappers coming from the mudholes of Atlanta. Music isn't about artistry, its about money making. Therefore the mindset usually is, more songs = more money or at least a better chance of hits. I'm not saying that bloated trap projects don't deserve hate, ... read more
Gunna isn't as bad as some may suggest. I find it funny seeing elitist reviewers with the fantano starter pack making up a majority of their 100 ratings - not that I could ever talk. Anyways, Gunna isn't a particularly special artist, but that's precisely his talent. He has great beat selection, and allows the instrumental to shine whilst he adds another layer of melody that doesn't overpower. His style at its best is smooth and subtle, great for setting a vibe or in a more ... read more
Was surprised how badly this aged, maybe the hype hid flaws but this is incredibly cringe, and goofy for most of the run time with 21 savage saving parts with some great verses - not talking Glenwood. This is trap music for 13 year olds and anyone older who plays minecraft.
Need to relisten with headphones - cause I’ve honestly realised how different the listens can be compared to speakers; however, this is everything I could have hoped for.
G'day guys. I've been negative on Wayne and honestly never seen the appeal, hear are some my unfiltered thoughts after a double listen to this monster of an album - in terms of length. If you disagree, sweet - lets discuss.
The Mobb - Straight up love the beat, bouncing, soulful, reminiscent of Little Brother production. Wayne comes in with great presence off the bat, charismatic and great use of emphasis. has some nice lyrics at times, but I feel like his verse could have been ... read more
@MyNameIsLuca Yo I just pasted an updated framework here but I'll find the other one also.
Existentialism – no meaningful purpose to life, therefore, appears meaningless, appears unfulfilling, and is there is a lack of direction which causes confusion.
Radical scepticism can unite with mysticism to allow justification in somewhere beyond, we can only know the world through our senses, which can only be confirmed by our senses. Pyrrho also is another interpretation. For instance, ... read more
I know nothing about Jazz, but the abstract imaginative sound of this record is just mesmerizing. Evokes visions of Budhist mysticism.
Freddie Gibbs is someone I very much dislike personally, I think he's a cuck, has a disconnected understanding of his own rapping ability, very unintelligent, and frankly just weird. In saying that he has a consistent discography with some great albums in the mix. I do think that his delivery is far better then his lyricism, which is why I never particularly leave an album infatuated with Gibbs, but rather how good the instrumentals are, and too Gibbs credit his versatility and synergy ... read more
The pinnacle of KA stylistically, instrumentally, and lyrically. An almost flawless artistic venture, however, this does come at some detriment to the overall sound.
Mentally KA's works for me evoke a scene where a lone figure sludgesthrough cropless landscapes of nothingness, hope buried without a map, sun drowned in tsunamis of rain, and the only voice left fled from within his head, limping to an unknown he’ll never reach. The imagery of desolation and silent despair which KA’s smoke scarred voice numbly retells is haunting like the ghosts silently stabbing you with anxiety. His words are not well enunciated, voice all but mimics ... read more
