'Lemonade' is firce, proud, angry, joyous, but most importantly it is healing. Her journey through misfortune and a disappointed relationship add such a personal and deep connection for the listeners to latch onto. The concept of this album alone puts it above many others, it is easily Beyonce's biggest accomplishment yet. This album more than deserved her first "Album Of The Year" win at the Grammy's.
Gathering up the sorrowful yet dazzling trio of Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, and Julien Baker and letting them in a studio together all at once, could only lead one of the best albums released this year.
This only being Phoebe's second album is maddening to think about since it is so beautiful, dynamic, deep, and full of heart. Though not living up to the superb songwriting of her debut album, she makes up for it with production that puts her in a league of her own within indie music.
This album is hopeful, gentle, melancholic, and even mournful. It has some of the heartwrenching yet beautiful songwriting I have ever heard. Phoebe easily put out one of the best albums released this century on her debut, easily setting her up for a long and successful career. My highlight songs are: 'Funeral', 'You Missed My Heart', and 'Scott Street'.
This is probably the most underrated album I've ever seen, it gets paid dust by most of the pop-punk community, meanwhile the production and vocals are other worldly. Not to mention the lyrics and songwriting throughout the album, it is an excellent example of being good songwriters. I ADORE this album with my whole heart.
This album has only aged like fine wine as time has passed. The production, the vocals, the songs, everything is just *chef's kiss*. I will always come back to this album, truly a great piece of pop-rock / pop-punk.
A 22-track album that feels a little too crowded that serves as a final goodbye to Abel's alter-ego. Though it contains sounds we have heard time and time again from The Weekend, it is still a sound I enjoy hearing from time to time.
Tyler has been a figure in pop-culture and the Hip-Hop scene for over a decade now, and reaches a new level of success with 'CHROMAKOPIA'. It feels personal and you can tell he put in a lot of effort into making this record, only falling short in cohesion. But the collab with Glorilla, Lil Wayne, and Sexyy Red is easily the best song on the album.
Tate gives us all an album filled with some addictive bops that are sure to be stuck in our heads for the time being. However, her sound hasn't really evolved much throughout the album, with some tracks merging together in my mind. Ultimately it is a good album that will definitely be a contender for the Grammy's come 2026.
'Short n' Sweet' establishes Sabrina Carpenter as a pop-superstar with an instant classic upbeat, fun album that encapsulates her and her artistry perfectly. Without any big features, Sabrina secured three top 10 hits, as well as a #1 with 'Please Please Please', on the Billboard Hot 100. It perfectly fits as the soundtrack of 2024, 'Espresso' is easily the most recognizable and popular song of the year.
What was easily the best rap album released this past year, Doechii bursts into the mainstream scene with her third mixtape. Though having plenty of rap, it has layers to the music that feel more sensual and R&B inspired, showcasing a new side to Doechii. Overall this album is a must listen and definitely deserves its place of being the only albums by women to win 'Best Rap Album' at the Grammy's along with Lauryn Hill and Cardi B.
I mean do I even need to say anything? This album is fearless, fun, and fabulous. It is also packed full of powerful messages and honors past musicians. Overall this album definitely deserved that Album Of The Year win that went to Harry Styles.
In what is one of my favorite albums of 2024, Billie Eilish releases an album with ethereal production, magical vocals, and major hits like 'BIRDS OF A FEATHER' and 'WILDFLOWER'. I think it only falls short with the music videos and it not being anything too new from Billie. But it still is a great body of work regardless.
Charli finally had her breakout moment with her SIXTH studio album that featured a few strong hits. Though good in most aspects, some of this album just seems overproduced and messy. However, the unhinged nature of the album is what works for it. I really have a mostly love and very little hate relationship with it, but it did give me one of my favorite songs of the year, 'sympathy is a knife'. But I must give Charli her flowers for her impact on the year and industry.
An album totaling up to about 50 songs is normally way too much to digest and handle, but SZA makes it easier for us by making one of the best albums of the decade. It blends the beautiful R&B, indie-rock, and pop sounds into one masterpiece.
Being released towards the end of 2020, 'Plastic Hearts' provides a fresh new vibe to the challenging year we've had. What is easily her most fitting genre yet, Miley enters into her true rockstar form.
What is arguably one of MIley's best album to date, 'Endless Summer Vacation' reaches pop-perfection from it's refreshing dance-esc production to its catchy melodies. This album is truly underrated and underappreciated by critics and the public alike, 'Rose Colored Lenses', 'Jaded', and 'Violet Chemistry' are easily some of the best pop songs released this decade.
Mrs. Carter delves into the genre she grew up on while adding her unique signature Beyonce flare. This album is an enticing 27-track adventure spanning through America's music roots and the fight for Black appreciation for their contributions not only to country music, but to America in general. The aesthetic and sound of this album perfectly encapsulates the feeling I have when looking at her in her "COWBOY CARTER" sash while carrying an American flag whilst riding a horse... it ... read more
An album that was overlooked upon people's first listens, 'The Tortured Poets Department' only gets better each time you press play again. This album just reinstates her position of the greatest storyteller and songrwiter of our generation. People only hated on this album because they hate to see Taylor reach these peaks that their favorite artists will never aspire to, they just hate to see a woman be successful. If this album was released at the time 'folklore' was ... read more
