I don’t have too much to say about this one to be honest. I guess it’s biggest flaw is that for my taste, there could be some redundancies throughout the album but I can see that not being much of an issue if that’s a sound you really like. I definitely enjoyed it regardless and I think the songs are real solid. I was maybe more gripped by the front half of the record than the back, but like I said, could’ve just been more of a repetition thing for me.
I had the privilege of seeing The Lemon Twigs recently in the wake of their new album releasing and they were absolutely remarkable live, and they couldn’t have been any tighter as a band. The new songs they played off of this very album sounded great and really had an energy to them that I don’t think was quite replicated in the recordings. This definitely feels like one of his most consistent albums up to this point but maybe a little too safe at times. It’s cleansing in some ways yet, underwhelming in some ... read more
This is probably a perfect length for my threshold for this kinda stuff though granted, I don’t listen to a lot this to begin with so maybe I just need to develop my taste a bit more. I did enjoy this record thoroughly and maybe even a little more than I expected to. I particularly liked how these songs were weaved together to form what felt like a real narrative. There does get to a point here and there were the onslaught of sludge and heaviness loses its effect on me as a listener but ... read more
