This song has a lot of really cool guitar work that I honestly didn’t expect from muse, especially after they’re the basically failed attempt to make metal-esc sound in drones. Good song
Despite my affection for tracks like Name and Long Way Down on A Boy Named Goo, I would have to say that this album is undoubtedly an improvement overall. Iris. Broadway. Dizzy. Slide. These are basically instant classics in my opinion, and I really appreciate Everything about those songs. Even January Friend, which has the bass player on vocals, is a song that I’m fond of. Overall, this album has some flaws but I had to give it a high rating because it is definitely one of, if not the ... read more
Eyes wide open, name, long way down, naked, flat top, and only one are some really solid goo goo tunes that appraise my opinion on this album. That being said, some of the others flop real bad, and I usually am not a fan of the bass singer’s vocal songs. Overall, it’s a good album because of it’s highs but still very imperfect for its lows.
Edit: I should also probably mention that Name is one of my favorite songs ever, so that influenced my rating 😅
Has some good tracks, but still a massive disappointment compared to muse’s older stuff.
Edit: 100 to 90.
Friendly reminder that the riff from ‘Stockholm Syndrome’ exists.
This album gets an easy 100 from me. It fails to disappoint my already rapidly growing love for the SP. It’s full of instant hits like rocket, quiet, hummer, geek U.S.A., today, Mayonnaise, Disarm… I could go on. every song follows SP’s distinct style perfectly and creatively, I love the guitar work with all of the crunchy distortion and fuzz. It’s not rocket science (pun intended), I just love everything about this album. Every song makes me feel something and leaves ... read more
Pretty good album. There is a good amount of creativity expressed in some of the songs, but I also felt like it got just a little repetitive. The overall sound was very good tho, and I really enjoyed the guitar work, especially the main riff in “Superbug”. Overall; not bad.
Some really great alt/punk rock going on here! I personally feel like this is one of goo goo dolls’ best albums, and it deserves more recognition. Really love the instrumentals in all of these, like it almost always is with goo goo, the songwriting is really great.
Overall a very enjoyable album. Songwriting is very good here, but it’s nothing really groundbreaking or anything. I do like most of the songs tho, very good listen.
This album has some amazing songs, with great creativity. I personally think tonic’s songwriting and awesome vocals really make this album. That isn’t to say that every song is a winner. Overall, a solid album and definitely earns my ranking
Very nice album. The songs are very memorable and iconic, I love the variety that the songs have between each other. My personal favorites are “Assasin” and “City of Delusion”. Like always, the performances of these three are in point!
Edit: I have now revisited this album recently and maybe I was paying more attention this time because I felt like it deserved a higher rating (85 is now a 90). Muse’s Origin Of Symmetry and Absolution are such good albums that I ... read more
This album definitely has a lot of good things going for it. Liquid state is one of my favorite muse songs, and I really like Chris Wolstenholme’s performance on it. The other songs like supremacy, madness, survival, etc are fantastic songs as well. This album is a solid addition to muse’s discography, but it’s no OOS
This is probably my favorite album as of writing this review. I just love how innovative and unique everything is. Instrumentals, writing, vocals, everything is just so fantastic. Idk, I can’t really put into words why this deserves 100, but I know it does.
Edit: I actually can put into words why this deserves a 100; this album has AMAZING songs to no end and each one is PHENOMENALLY creative and genuinely some of my favorite pieces of music ever.
